Supported by Sustainability Victoria's Communities Fund, this 12 -month program will work to catalyse a local circular economy ecosystem from the bottom-up.
This program aims to help build a strong foundation for Hume's current Circular City work by embedding circular economy principles through a three step process: community building (Community), capacity building (Education), and waste valorisation (Innovation).
A dedicated website will be launched in the upcoming months to share the learnings and success stories of this exciting program.

This report is for the citizens of Greater Melbourne. It serves as an invitation to join an ongoing conversation about Melbourne’s future. The project described here is a small first step towards using Doughnut Economics for transformative action on the big challenges and opportunities for our city.
The goal of the pilot project is to converge energy around the circular economy in Victoria and explore how best to convert good ideas into impactful action. This action oriented initiative compounds the impact of existing digital circular hubs and communities by providing a physical space for stakeholders from industry, government, academia, and the community to come together to catalyse innovation for the circular transition.

We all have the opportunity and responsibility to ensure that future generations inherit a World that is able to provide a prosperous life for all. Our current linear economic model of take, make, and waste is not ensuring this. We are using more resources than the Earth can regenerate, and putting more waste into natural sinks than the Earth can process. This current paradigm is not sustainable for continued economic development nor ecological health. Each one of us have a key role to play in creating the regenerative systems needed for a thriving future.
